The Read Family History Project

Elizabeth O’Hara

Elizabeth O’Hara

Introduction

My sister, Elizabeth O’Hara, collated and redacted materials and notes gathered by our mother, Julia Read O’Hara, regarding her ancestors. The result is The Read Family History Project, December 2010, chronicling

many legendary and even historic individuals. Their ancestors date back to 17th century Scotland, 18th century England and 19th century Ireland. It is possible to trace them to the Mexican War, the Civil War, the War of Independence and even the Battle of Worcester in England in 1651. (Unless otherwise noted, quotations are from Elizabeth's Project).

Elizabeth's book runs fifty-two pages, with perhaps sixty or more pages of notes. Available here are a few abbreviated samplings from her work.

Julia Read O’Hara

Julia Read O’Hara was our family historian, and we are lucky that she took a keen interest and that she left the story ready for its next audience. She corresponded with historians, genealogists and authors who...supplied her with letters and articles bringing to life our distant ancestors and the places that formed them.
